A PLANNING leader is set to write to a harbour authority after it objected to a 17-inch increase in the height of a house.

Langstone Harbour Board made a formal objection to plans for a two-storey extension at Poundcroft Cottage, Havant Road, Hayling Island.

It said the 450mm increase in the height of the home would harm the landscape of the harbour shoreline.

But councillors on Havant Borough Council’s planning committee did not agree.

Paul Buckley, who chairs the committee, said he was annoyed that officer time had been wasted on an application.

He said: ‘This really need not have come to committee.’

Cllr Elaine Shimbart, who sits on the committee, said: ‘I can’t imagine it will be that noticeable.’
