A MAN was taken to hospital and a motorway lane needed to be shut after an accident.

The shunt between two cars happened on the A3(M) southbound near the junction with Leigh Park and Purbrook at about 6.20pm yesterday.

An ambulance went to the scene as well as three fire engines from Cosham and one from Havant.

No-one was seriously hurt, but one of the drivers was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital after complaining of back and neck pain.
