HEAVY snow has caused a Portsmouth theatre’s performance to be cancelled.

The Phoenix Players, which was due to perform Aladdin at St Peter’s Theatre, in Somers Town, at 7.30pm tonight, has called off the show following a meeting earlier today.

The drama group will still go ahead with performances of the disney classic at 2.30pm and 7.30pm tomorrow.

There will also be a 2.30pm show on Sunday and the final four will be held next weekend.

The production will be the last one to feature at St Peter’s Theatre because St Peter’s Church, which owns the building, has decided to close it down on January 31.

Jan Hartley, assistant director for The Phoenix Players, said: ‘The decision was made not to go ahead with tonight’s show because it’s not fair to expect people to come out in this weather.’
