AIRSHOW CRASH: Worthing United teammates at special church service
TWO Worthing United players attended a special church service this morning to pay their respects.
Brad Stevens, 18, and Jamie McKenzie, 26, were at St Mary de Haura Church to remember their teammates, Matt Grimstone and midfielder Jacob Schilt, who died in yesterday’s crash.
Speaking afterwards, Jamie said they had wanted to attend and to pay their respects on behalf of the club.
“We have been training with them for a couple of months and they were really nice guys,” he added.
“It’s a close club. We have only just joined but they are such nice guys down there.”
Brad said: “We were absolutely gutted to hear about it. We are devastated.”
He said he would remember them as gifted footballers, Matt as a good goalkeeper and Jacob as a very good centre half.
