All geared up to set kitesurfing record on Hayling

ORGANISERS of the kitesurfing armada record attempt have confirmed a date – following two postponements.

Sir Richard Branson looks set to take part in the huge event on Hayling over the weekend of October 16 to 18.

It has been cancelled twice in the past month because of unfavourable weather.

But the event, which will see exhibits, live music and workshops as well as the actual world-record attempt, will go ahead, whatever the weather.

For the third year, hundreds of kitesurfers will attempt to break a world record for the largest number to kitesurf for one mile.

Last year, hopes were dashed when only 344 people completed the course – eight shy of the world record.

Entry to the event is free and all donations go to the charities Snow Camp, Serve On, Virgin Unite and the RNLI. For more information go to kitesurfingarmada.org.uk.
