REAL ales and live music are set to go down a storm with punters at an annual beer festival.

Over 80 real ales and a selection of traditional cider and perry will go through the taps at the two-day bash, which will be held at Thorngate Halls, in Bury Road, Gosport on February 17 and 18.

The Gosport Winter Beer Festival, which is in its 20th year, has been set up by the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).

It will feature performances from Portsmouth funk act Lost Star Souls and Portsmouth City Band. Acoustic group Mary Jane will wrap things up on Saturday night. Hot and cold food will be available.

Tickets for the event, which is for over-18s and cost £8. The price includes a programme, a festival glass, half a pint of beer and a beer token for Camra members. Tickets can be bought by sending a cheque (payable to Portsmouth Camra) to Portsmouth Camra, 308B Twyford Avenue, Portsmouth PO2 8NT.
