The Friends of Leesland Park volunteers are once again looking forward to welcoming local residents, their families and friends to an annual event next Saturday.
ParkFest is an annual celebration which aims to celebrate the work of professionals and volunteers alike who have been involved in the park’s ongoing development, to further promote the park and its facilities and to bring together local people, their families and friends (and dogs) for a day of music, entertainment and perhaps a bargain or two.
It will take place on the park’s central grassed arena from 2pm on September 12. Entry to the event is free and the live music programme will continue until 11pm.
The Friends of Leesland Park’s secretary Phil Sandall said: ‘While we appreciate we have pitched ourselves against Bestival over on the Isle of Wight this year, we believe we are now big enough in our own right to take on this cultural clash.
‘Our own musical line-up covers everything from samba to soul and sandwiches a rich mix of local talent in between.
‘Residents are advised to keep an eye out for advertising posters listing the individual artists or indeed check our website or Facebook page for further details.’
Event organisers have been hard at work to bring a range of activities, stalls and music to the show.
These will include children’s rides and inflatables, archery, art and music workshops, a range of stalls, many of which act as charity fundraisers, live music and story-telling.
The event will also include the popular dog show ‘Paws in the Park’. A range of refreshments including hot food, FairTrade hot drinks, milkshakes, ice-cream and a real ale bar will also be available.
Gosport’s Big Noise Samba Band will once again be peforming at the event. Something very different will be Part Deux’s interpretation of the Pink Floyd classic Dark Side of the Moon. The band will be playing the album in its entirety.
