TWO drivers were left with injuries after their cars crashed into each other before hitting the central reservation along the A27.

A silver Renault Clio was in collision with a black Mitsubishi Lancer on the westbound carriageway, between Portsmouth and Chichester.

Both vehicles then smashed into the central reservation causing substantial damage to the central barrier, two miles west of the Fishbourne roundabout.

The drivers – an 18-year-old woman from Portsmouth, and a 54-year-old woman from Chichester – suffered minor injuries.

The incident, which happened on Wednesday, just after 7.45am, caused long delays during the early morning rush hour.

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses with any information prior to the incident to come forward.
