ARSONISTS are thought to have set fire to a large pile of wood chippings in a park.

Firefighters from Gosport were alerted to the blaze in Stanley Park, off Western Way, in Gosport by a dog walker at 7.15am on Saturday.

They arrived to find several tonnes of wood chipping ablaze and had the fire under control by 7.45am. A spokesman said they believed the fire had been started deliberately in the night.
