ART groups are getting together to put on an exhibition and raise money for charity.

The show, which takes place this weekend, includes art from The Roundabout Art Group, a group of 19 elderly artists from Portchester.

The Crossway Carvers, a woodcarving group well-known on the south coast, will attend.

Embroidery, ceramics, sculptures, homemade jewellery and bags will feature in the show, which is raising money for The Rowans Hospice, the Purbrook charity that provides specialist hospice care and support to patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

The art groups held the same event last year, which raised over £400 and over 200 people attended.

Organiser Richard Ashworth said: ‘I’m looking forward to it. We’re all a bit nervous but are all excited and hope it goes well.’

The event takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the Portchester Parish Hall between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

Entry is £1 per adult, and free for children.
