A SOUTHSEA theatre company marking Charles Dickens’ bicentenary is on the look out for cast members.
Alchemy Theatre and Kings Theatre’s production of ‘Barnaby Rudge’ is in need of a large cast, with at least 23 main parts and 20 to 30 smaller parts up for grabs.
Dicken’s fifth novel, set during the Gordon Riots of 1780, sees the half-wit Rudge emerge as a leader in the unrest.
Director Eileen Norris said: ‘This is not cosy Dickens at all. It’s a similar story to this summer’s riots, which is why it’s so interesting to do it now.’
Auditions will be held tomorrow at the Kings Theatre, Southsea, between 9am and midday and anyone over 16 is welcome to come along.
Rehearsals for the production start in June next year.
