Author's shock as novel debut to be transformed into a musical at Edinburgh Fringe FestivalÂ

First-time novelist Angie Langley published her debut book, Jennifer Brown's Journey, earlier this year.

But now, after a '˜whirlwind' tour - which has seen her selling out of her first run in a matter of weeks '“ her story will hit the stage as a musical.

The adaptation, called Jennifer B, is earmarked to debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival next year, with work now underway to bring it to life.

Angie said: '˜I'm thrilled. It's so exciting. Not everyone gets their book adapted into a musical for the Edinburgh Fringe. It's just amazing.'

Angie penned her novel following her 10-year '˜adventure' after a nightmarish break-up left her feeling heartbroken and vulnerable.

The emotional upheaval that saw her leaving her home of 25 years in Waterlooville and quitting her nine-to-five office job to venture out on a period of soul searching, which saw her retrain as a cook and work for wealthy businessmen.

She used stories from this period to inspire her character, Jennifer.

Musical producer Tish Tindall '“ who is a friend of Angie '“ is behind the re-imagining of the book.

Angie added: '˜Tish runs an academy in Scotland and is absolutely brilliant.

'˜She has already performed at the Fringe Festival. She was the one who actually suggested my book should be made into a musical.'

The project still has several months until it is completed. However, an actor has already been hired to bring Jennifer to life.

Asked how she would feel to see her character coming to life on stage, Angie said: '˜I don't know how I will feel. It will be incredibly emotional seeing myself up there.

'˜It will just show how life can turn around so much.'
