A FAREHAM-BASED charity has been awarded gold status.

The charity You supports people who are homeless, suffering from mental illnesses or suffer with physical or learning disabilities.

Now, it has been awarded Gold status by national body Investors in People (IIP).

It is also listed as the 12th best company to work for in the country and was also one of only 158 organisations awarded two-star accreditation by Best Companies.

Earlier in the year it received acclaim for its standards of employee engagement.

Steven Embleton, learning and leadership manager at You, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have achieved this standard.

‘You is already a great employer and our staffing policies have always been very much aligned to the needs of our staff and enabling them to provide excellent service to our clients.’

The IIP award requires scrutiny of a business’s policies, and also relies on individual staff feedback.

Only two of the 53 companies who achieved gold in the south were charities.
