A DIAMOND Jubilee tea party will be held in Gosport next month.

The mayor of Gosport will hand out awards to the best volunteers in the town at the tea party at Thorngate Halls on Thursday, May 31.

A Diamond Volunteer award will be given in recognition for volunteers and organisations who have been serving the community for 60 years – the same time period the Queen has been on the throne.

People are being encouraged to nominate friends for the award by Friday.

Any individual who has given more than 60 years’ voluntary service can be nominated.

Nominations from individuals who volunteer using their own initiative and are not attached to an organisation are also welcomed, or you can nominate yourself.

For a form, visit and drop it into the offices, or post it to Ian Johnson, Diamond Volunteer Awards, Gosport Voluntary Action, Martin Snape House, 96 Pavilion Way, St George Barracks, Gosport.
