Baby suffers cuts to face in hit-and-run crash in Portsmouth

A BABY suffered cuts to his face after a hit-and-run in Portsmouth.

A 53-year-old man was carrying the baby boy and holding the hand of a five-year child when a green Ford Focus estate crashed into him.

The driver stopped and helped the pedestrian but left before emergency services arrived.

It happened outside the Esso garage in Milton Road, Milton, just before 9am on January 16.

The car was travelling north.

Now police want to find the driver to speak to him about out what happened.

A police spokesman said: ‘The driver of the car, who is described as a white man, stopped and helped the injured pedestrian, but left before emergency services arrived.

‘The 53 year-old man was later found to have a broken ankle, and the baby he was carrying was left with cuts to his face.’
