VICTORIOUS will return – and the first act has been announced.

The people behind the event have said that Basement Jaxx are set to play at the popular festival.

Organiser James Ralls said the event will expand and has confirmed the electronic dance duo will grace the stage.

Mr Ralls said: ‘Victorious Festival will see a continuation of the relaxed ethos of last year’s family event with festival-goers treated to a huge children’s area, now with its own kids stage, street entertainers, boutique and creative markets and plenty of local produce food stalls to choose from.

‘This year the music line-up is catering for all ages and we are thrilled to have Basement Jaxx on board with many more to follow, including showcasing the best of the region’s bands and unsigned talent.’

Basement Jaxx are back with a new album and will be delighting the thousands of people who turn out for the festival next year.

They will be on the Castle stage on the Sunday night.

As reported, 63,601 tickets were sold for the music spectacle this summer.

It was headlined by the likes of Dizzee Rascal and Sophie Ellis Bextor, on Southsea Common.

The festival on Southsea Common had major impact on local businesses and leisure attractions.

In total 5,005 people paid a visit to the D-Day Museum over the course of the two-day event in August.

That was compared to 753 in the same weekend last year.

The museum was within the grounds.

Just 10 people were arrested over the course of the largely trouble-free music event.

Tickets for the festival are already on sale. An early bird ticket costs £18, a child ticket £6 for youngsters aged 15 and under. Children younger than five get in for £1.

This year organisers are looking for traders and volunteers to come along to the event.
