Birthplace of Portsmouth-born writer Charles Dickens gearing up for summer

THE museum dedicated to Portsmouth-born writer Charles Dickens is gearing up to open for the summer.

The Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum, at 393 Old Commercial Road, will welcome the public from April 1.

And on Sunday, Lucinda Hawksley Dickens, the great-great-great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens, will be inside to give readings from the works of Dickens at midday and 2pm.

The next meeting of the birthplace branch of the Dickens Fellowship will be on Tuesday, April 12. 2016. It’s being held in St Swithun’s Church

Hall, Southsea, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
