FIREFIGHTERS were called to scrubland that had caught light.

Crews from Gosport Fire Station were called to a fire in the open at Browndown Ranges in Gosport at 4.39pm yesterday.

Two fire engines, a water carrier and a Land Rover were sent to the scene.

Approximately 40sq m of gorseland had ignited.

The incident was over by 7pm.

It is not known what started the fire.
