SPRING is nearly here, but the season has already well and truly sprung on Southsea Common.

The Ladies’ Mile and surrounds are full of newly-blossomed daffodils, lilies and other flowers.

Hilary Collins, Southsea Association secretary, said on behalf of the association: ‘We want to commend the Southsea Landscape Group for its excellent work.

‘Their hard-working staff planted thousands of new bulbs last year which proved to be an amazing display of spring flowers on Ladies’ Mile and other areas on the seafront.

‘They created a spectacular show for residents and visitors to enjoy, the blooms opened after the storms, sadly lasting just a few weeks but giving hope that the first sign of spring is on the way.’
