Trains between London and Portsmouth have faced disruption today after a body was discovered close to train tracks.

Train staff at Epsom station in Surrey reported that the body had been found near the station at about 11.30am.

Police officers and ambulance staff were called but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement British Transport Police said it was working to identify the person and inform their family.

It added that the incident was not being treated as suspicious.

South West trains warned passengers on their website to expect delays on services on the route until later this afternoon.

All lines have now been reopened.
