A MISSING man has been found dead.
The body of 42-year-old Robert Porter was discovered in the Rowlands Castle area, eight days after he disappeared from his home in Sovereign Drive, Southsea.
Police from Hampshire Constabulary had carried out an extensive search in their bid to trace Mr Porter after he went missing at about 3pm on February 10.
Officers searched the Southsea area where he normally spent time as well as speaking to his friends, local businesses and taxi drivers and taxi drivers in the area.
However despite enlisting the force helicopter to search the Milton Common area of Portsmouth on February 13, they were unable to find him.
Then Sussex Police discovered a body on February 18 and alerted Hampshire Constabulary.
The body has since been identified as Mr Porter.
Police are now preparing a file for the Chichester Coroner’s office.
However the cause of Mr Porter’s death is not yet known.
The News understands that results of a post mortem could take up to a week as further tests are still being carried out
