Bomb disposal experts called after grenade discovered in Portsmouth cemetery

BOMB disposal experts rushed to a Portsmouth cemetery after a grenade was discovered this morning '“ with no casualties reported.

The EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) attended Kingston Cemetery in New Road after the shocking discovery was made around 9.30am.

A heavy police presence was on scene to protect the public amid fears the bomb could explode.

But the device was safely removed by the EOD just before midday '“ with no one hurt. 

A police spokesperson said: '˜(Officers) were called at 9.28am this morning after a grenade was discovered at Kingston Cemetery, New Road, Portsmouth.'
