A ROYAL Navy bomb disposal squad was called to a suspected unexploded device.

Police cordoned off the area near Shopwhyke Nurseries, Chichester, and Southern Diving Unit 2 from Portsmouth attended yesterday.

Leading diver Dale Magnus said the item was thought to be a detonator cord from a shell. The squad removed the device and took it away to be examined.
