AN AUTHOR’S novel has won first prize in a book cover contest.

David Gates won the honour in a AuthorsDB 2015 Cover Contest for the cover of his novel The Roots of Evil, which features a tree pictured amid dark clouds.

Mr Gates said he was thrilled about the award for the cover artwork, which he created himself. He said: ‘I can’t tell you how great it feels to get recognition for my artwork and stories.’
