Boost for cancer charity at hotel event

HUNDREDS of pounds was raised at a coffee morning for a cancer charity.

Fundraisers made £424 at the Macmillan Coffee Morning last month at the Royal Beach Hotel in Southsea.

Marcella Payne, who runs the event with Sandy Williams, said: '˜It was a nice event, the weather was lovely for it.

'˜Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

'˜We raised a good amount for a coffee morning.

Portsmouth does do very well to come out as a team to support MacMillan charity.'

Around 30 people attended the hotel as people across Portsmouth and the wider area put on coffee mornings for the cancer charity.

- On Saturday The News wrongly said the Lady Mayoress of Portsmouth, Sylvia Mason, attended the Regency Nursing Home's coffee morning. In fact, it was the deputy Lord Mayoress, Leza Tremorin, who attended the nursing home.

- An incorrect picture caption said Janet Roebuck, Carole Lilly and Mavis Pengelley, along with Rosemary King and Mollie Hoxey, were at the nursing home, when they were at the Royal Beach Hotel.
