‘You’re hired!’

They are the words from Lord Sugar that are music to the ears of anyone who has taken part in BBC TV’s The Apprentice.

Now ‘You’re hired!’ is set to be heard by young people across East Hampshire thanks to a pioneering scheme launched by East Hampshire District Council.

In partnership with Business East Hants, the council is ploughing more than £150,000 to help businesses take on apprentices.

The cash will pay for transport and training costs.

The scheme – called Get East Hants Working – will be launched tomorrow by Cllr Ferris Cowper, the council’s leader, and East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds.

Cllr Cowper said: ‘In a largely rural area, transport is a major barrier and therefore, the transport contribution will be a great help.’
