KITESURFERS will attempt to write themselves into the record books at a festival in Hayling Island.

This year’s Virgin Kitesurfing Armada festival will run from Friday to Sunday.

Sponsor and keen kitesurfer Sir Richard Branson will be part of a Guinness World Record attempt to hold the largest parade of kitesurfers ever assembled.

Breaking the record will require 250 kitesurfers to complete a special course.

Mr Branson said: ‘I’m passionate about kitesurfing and I think this is going to be a fantastic and fun event in support of some great causes, certainly the first of its kind and incredibly positive for the sport.’

The festival will also include live music, kitesurfing taster sessions and fundraising for charity.
