Brewers set to see new cooler

A CONTAINER which claims to keep beer cool, fresh and carbonated for two weeks or more is set to go on show in London this weekend.

GrowlerWerks is hoping to get its uKeg into the hands of consumers across the pond as they visit Genuine Liquorette in the capital on Saturday.

The visit '“ which will follow display days in Amsterdam and Antwerp '“ comes at a time when experts say the popularity of draught beer and craft beer is surging.

It was designed after its creators, from Portland, Oregon, faced a problem of their own '“ keeping micro-brew from going bad.

Now they hope the pressurised, stainless steel-insulated uKeg can help eradicate that problem for brewers the world over.

They are distributing the product, which comes in half-gallon and gallon sizes in partnership with Brouwland '“ Europe's largest distributor of craft beer equipment and home-brewing supplies.

Shawn Huff, GrowlerWerk's co-founder, said: '˜We're excited to get the uKeg into the hands of more beer lovers with this pioneer of beer equipment in the EU.

'˜We're looking forward to sharing our love for the craft beer experience across two continents.'

The uKeg is vacuum-insulated, has a regulator cap, contains a low-cost, food-grade CO2 cartridge and it fits in the refrigerator.

The growler will go on display at the event in London on Saturday, from 3pm until 8pm.

uKeg displays will take place in Amsterdam today and in Antwerp a day later on Friday.
