Britannia in Portsmouth (no, not that one)

On October 4, 1964, the doyen of the Pacific class of locomotives number 7000, Britannia, arrived at Portsmouth Harbour with a Locomotive Club of Great Britain Vectis Railtour.

The members of the club crossed to the Isle of Wight for a tour of what was left of the Isle of Wight railway.

The train was taken to Fratton for cleaning and the locomotive turned. The whole ensemble then returned to Portsmouth Harbour to make its way back to London.

On a special working for the Locomotive Club of Great Britain tour here we see 4-6-2 7000 Britannia standing at Portsmouth Harbour station.
