Brothers run in memory of pal

Camilla died from cancer in 2014, aged just 25.

She was one of the first patients to be treated on the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Southampton General Hospital when it opened in 2013.

She was helped greatly during her illness by the support and medical care she received on the unit.

The brothers attended a music event last year, CAMassive, which raised funds in Camilla’s memory.

Camilla’s sister Ellie and a representative from Teenage Cancer Trust gave speeches on the night which inspired Sam and Simon so much that they felt they had to do something to support the charity, so they signed up to the race.

Simon, 30, said: ‘Neither of us were in ‘10-mile shape’ but we wanted to do something to raise money in memory of Camilla.

‘We started training with runs along the seafront and gradually grew the distance.

‘We ended the race under our target of two hours, crossing the line together.’

So great was their experience last year that the brothers signed up again.

Sam, 28, said: ‘Cammi was such a brilliant friend who always gave great advice and when people say she could light up an entire room its absolutely true.

‘This year we are back to raise money in her memory and I look forward to the atmosphere on the day as last year it was very emotional but a brilliant experience.’
