FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a bush near a railway line caught fire.

Crews from Southsea and Cosham were called to the incident off Park Grove, Cosham, Portsmouth, at 10pm last night.

Cosham crew manager Rex Leeman said: ‘We used one hose reel to put out the flames.

‘We were there for about five minutes.

‘The call to us was made from a mobile phone so we don’t know who it was from.’

Meanwhile, Gosport and Fareham firefighters dealt with a bin shed fire in Ramsay Place, Bridgemary.

The incident happened shortly after 9pm the same evening.

Though a hose reel was used to put out the flames, the shed had been completely destroyed.

Gosport watch manager Steve Bint said: ‘We couldn’t work out what caused it so it was put down as being an unknown reason.’
