Fine Cars Kia in Lee-on-the-Solent has offered its first work experience placement to a Fareham College student.

The dealership has been supporting students at the Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training (CEMAST) since its opening in 2014.

And now level one automotive student Ryan Carpenter has been offered a placement there.

He said: ‘I am thoroughly enjoying my time at Fine Cars Kia.

‘The team is really friendly, and I’m incredibly appreciative of all of their help.

‘Not many students have the chance to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment, so I’m really honoured to have been given this opportunity.’

Ryan, who has just completed his four-week placement, has taken up the light vehicle technician apprenticeship – one of four options available.

Ken Grant, operations manager at Fine Cars, said: ‘Ryan is the first student we’ve offered a work experience placement to and he’s been fantastic.’
