HAVE you ever been at home and fancied a piece of delicious cake but had nothing in the cupboard?
Ever been caught out by having guests round but with no cakes to offer?
Well, your sweet tooth will need to yearn no more, as Sweet Science Patisserie, run by Southesea entrepreneur Jack Preston, has set up a delivery service, bringing cake and sweet treats to homes across the city.
Jack, 24, started Sweet Science Patisserie three years ago, making cakes and supplying restaurants in Portsmouth.
However, he has seen his business boom after offering his services via Deliveroo and Just Eat earlier this year.
Jack, who originally started work as a pastry chef in his mother’s restaurant, says he is busier than ever and he has had to expand his service due to popular demand. He is now delivering to people in Portsmouth, Chichester, Winchester and Southampton.
He said: ‘It has been crazy. Everything has been selling out. It’s ordered in the same way that you order a pizza, and delivered the same. It’s that easy.
‘Nobody was really offering home delivery for cakes, but now we are, it’s taken over, to the point that I am looking to make it my full-time job. The reaction has been so positive. People really do love it as it’s good fun.’
Jack has also been promoting his business through social media and says he’s had some great comments and feedback.
He said: ‘I am always on Facebook and we now have more than 7,000 followers. It’s gone wild.
‘I have found nothing else like it around.’
He says his best sellers are his 11 different types of cheesecake, particularly the Milky Bar and Nutella flavours, plus his chocolate fudge cake.
Jack says his secret is his fresh ingredients and his quality.
‘It’s all about giving people quality food that they cannot get anywhere else,’ he said.
