THIS is the moment the founder of a company which makes soaps managed to snatch a selfie with the man who holds the country’s purse strings.
Samantha Worsey, who started the Southsea Bathing Hut in April, was invited to a Downing Street reception with the chancellor George Osborne to celebrate being named one of the top 100 small businesses in the country.
‘I’m really proud to have been invited to Downing Street,’ Samantha said.
And she took the time to explain to Mr Osborne about the independent shops in Portsmouth, such as those in Albert Road.
She added: ‘In modern Britain it’s rare to see so many great independent companies on one street. We can all be proud of that.’
It comes as Portsmouth firm The Car Finance Company was ranked 10th in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 league table.
Founder Mark Smith said: ‘It has been such a huge achievement for all at the company and a real testament to the sheer hard work from all the staff.
‘This is the seventh year of back-to-back triple digit growth and the Fast Track 100 table provides tangible evidence that the company is in top form. We are looking forward to many years of continued performance at this level.’
