A CLOTHING giant is set to branch out and open its first charity shop.
The FatFace Foundation has confirmed it will open its doors at the Meridian Centre in Havant at 9.30am on Friday.
Set to sell an ‘extensive list’ of old stock as well as men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, accessories and footwear, the store will fill the unit formerly occupied by Energy Fitness For Women.
Adrienne Heeley, company director of FatFace Foundation, said: The FatFace foundation trustees (in association with FatFace Ltd) are delighted to be opening our first charity shop here in our home town of Havant.
‘We are confident the store will bring in vital funds that will in turn support a handful of national and local charities that we have committed to.
We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in getting this project off the ground – many of whom have offered large discounts or free of charge services which enables us to maximise the amount that we can give back to important causes.’
The FatFace Foundation was established in 2009 and gives charity grants to good causes local to FatFace stores.
Its arrival in Havant town centre follows a £5m vote of confidence in the area, after opening its distribution centre at the 45-acre Dunsbury Park in November last year.
Rob Fryer, centre manager at the Meridian Centre, said: ‘We are truly delighted to welcome FatFace and its customers into the centre.
‘They will certainly extend the range of goods and services we currently offer to our shoppers.’
Havant MP Alan Mak has also praised the move – citing the impact it could have on the local economy.
He said: ‘The is positive news for our area and shows successful businesses and big-name brands like FatFace are positive about our local economy and community.
‘I welcome their continuing commitment to Havant – having opened their new distribution centre in Leigh Park last year.’
The FatFace Foundation will be open from 9.30am until 5pm from Monday to Friday and from 9.30am and 4.30pm on Saturdays.
The store will be closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
