Business is looking for drivers for Miss Daisy

Have your say

A NEW community companion service has started up in Lee-on-the-Solent to help those who struggle to get out and about on their own.

Driving Miss Daisy, a service which has been successful in New Zealand, is being brought to Hampshire by Anna and Chris White of Lee-on-the-Solent.

The service can be used for outings such as medical appointments, meeting up with friends, or taking a pet to the vet.

It caters for assistance with a wheelchair or a walker.

Anna and Chris said: ‘We have been blown away with the reaction and support we’ve had and want to thank everyone for their encouragement.’

Hampshire regional development officer, Ian Geraghty, hopes that more people will be interested in joining the service. He said: ‘There are many opportunities for our companion driving service and we are immensely proud that Anna and Chris White are finding the service so popular with their clients.

‘We’re currently looking for similar, motivated, caring and business-focused people in Hampshire.’
