Businesses urged to join cup recycling scheme

BUSINESSES are being urged to sign up to a cup recyling scheme.Â

The Solent Cup Recycling Project is based on the success of a scheme in Gosport that launched in March.  

Businesses are urged to join the scheme as it rolls out across the Solent region by contacting Simply Cups which is offering promotional deals to encourage those in the PO and SO postcodes to join the project before the official launch on December 1. The project aims to increase the number of used paper cups that are collected, recycled and turned into new functional products.

Project manager Maddie Hickman said: '˜Paper cups can be recycled and we want to encourage businesses to join our recycling service.

'˜The Gosport scheme has been successful and now we've joined up with Portsmouth City Council. 

'˜As an incentive to local businesses, we are offering reduced rates on cup collection membership as well as discounts on a range of cup recycling bins for those who join up before December 1.'
