City firm backs aim to promote diversity in law

A LAW firm based in Portsmouth has teamed up with the diversity organisation Aspiring Solicitors.

The company works to increase the legal profession's inclusion of underrepresented groups, including LGBT+, disabled, underprivileged and black and minority ethnic candidates through  training, careers support and work experience.

Now, thanks to a new partnership, Compass Road-based Blake Morgan will run a series afternoon tea events for students linked with Aspiring Solicitors to learn  about law work.

Offering learners the chance to talk to recruiters, trainee solicitors and partners, they will take place at Blake Morgan's Southampton offices later this month.

The firm is an affiliate member with Aspiring Solicitors and has a trio of professional ambassadors to help mentor students seeking to take a legal career path.

Chris White, founder of Aspiring Solicitors, said: '˜Blake Morgan shares our vision to increase diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and we look forward to working with them to tackle equality issues for the next generation of young lawyers.'
