RECRUITMENT experts at a Portsmouth-based firm are celebrating after being nominated for two top awards.

Carrington West has been shortlisted for two honours from the Institute of Recruitment Professionals.

The firm has been nominated in the categories ‘UK’s Best Company to Work for’ category and the ‘UK’s Temporary Consultant of the Year’ for consultant Nick Rowe.

Director Simon Gardiner said: ‘We recognise this as a huge achievement, to gain national recognition for the hard work that our staff have put in over the past few years is great.

‘We have doubled every year since we began trading and have signed a lease for an office able to house 60 consultants showing our ambition and determination to build an excellent recruitment brand.’

This is the second time fellow director Nick Rowe has been shortlisted for the award, having won in 2011 when with another company.

Mr Rowe said: ‘It’s a fantastic achievement to simply get shortlisted considering the competition we face.

‘I won it previously whilst working for a large corporate who had been operating for over 25 years which again was great however being shortlisted this time round is much more special.

‘I think this proves that regardless of company size if you have determination to build a brand and offer an excellent service even the smaller organisations can hold their own against the larger companies that have been operating for long periods of time.’

Carrington West, which is based at Lakeside 1000 in North Harbour, has grown steadily since it was founded in 2011 and its turnover now stands at £18m per year.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on December 9.

Now in its seventh year, the IRP Awards are the only recruitment sector awards hosted and awarded by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

The awards provide an opportunity to recognise individual and corporate success and promote best practice.
