BUSINESSMAN Grant Copper thanked everyone who has supported his McDonald’s restaurant in North End over the past 25 years.

Mr Copper, a McDonald’s franchisee, runs 15 McDonald’s restaurants across the south of England.

He confirmed all 37 staff at the North End restaurant, which closed on Saturday, have been offered jobs at other McDonald’s.

In a statement released to The News, he said: ‘I can confirm that in conjunction with McDonald’s, I have taken the difficult decision to close my restaurant on London Road in Portsmouth, on January 3.

‘We continually review the position of our restaurants and unfortunately London Road is no longer a viable location for us.

‘All of the 37 staff have been offered transfers to neighbouring restaurants in the area.

‘I would like to thank all of our customers who have supported the restaurant over the years and also say thank you to all of my staff and colleagues for their support.’
