BUSINESSES have turned benefactors to help three local charities.

Almost £2,000 has been shared between See2Hear, Howard and Matapan Residents’ Association and Home-Start Havant following a donation from the Alliance to Reward Initiatives and Social Enterprise.

It comes as two local businesses join the ARISE scheme, which has donated over £17,000 to 29 good causes since its inception in 2012.

Mitie and GBM have joined Land Securities, which runs Gunwharf Quays, as benefactors of the scheme.

See2Hear received £800 towards the care and education of deaf and hard-of -hearing people who attend its weekly group meetings

Tutor Maggie Short said: ‘These sessions are life enhancing in the truest sense.’

Centre director at Gunwharf Quays Colin Wilding added: ‘Portsmouth has a fantastic community spirit and the quarterly grants from ARISE can make a huge difference to the incredible charities working across the area.’
