Election candidates throw weight behind pubs

POLITICAL parties have thrown their weight behind a bid to protect community pubs.

More than 1,000 prospective MPs are backing the Campaign for Real Ale’s efforts to promote pubs and breweries.

Camra says Labour are leading the pack as the most pub and beer friendly, with 292 election candidates pledging to support ‘well-run community pubs’.

Labour are followed closely by the Green Party with 264 supporters, with the Lib Dems in third place at 225.

The Conservatives come in fourth with 160 and Ukip come in last with 118.
