BRIDES and grooms-to-be can now use a new app to find suppliers in their area thanks to a local entrepreneur.

Developed by Jonathan Ward, who runs a wedding catering business and previously worked as a chef for Gordon Ramsay, The Holy Bridal app is designed to be a one-stop shop for couples planning their big day, allowing residents to find suppliers close to them.

Mr Ward, who trained in catering at Highbury College and is now based at Langstone Technology Park, said: ‘Planning a wedding is exciting but it can also be an overwhelming and stressful experience.

‘Traditional online wedding directories just don’t cut it – couples need access to the information they need in a way that is simple, reliable and trustworthy.

‘The Holy Bridal is unique in that it is the only comprehensive national wedding directory in app form, and it is designed to put brides and grooms at the heart of the experience.

‘Only reputable retailers are featured, which means that couples can be sure that they are kept informed of the best offers locally, including some deals that our retailers will be offering exclusively to customers who contact them through The Holy Bridal.’

At the age of 13, he started making extra pocket money by selling home-made pizzas to schoolmates in the playground.

Now, at the age of 29, Mr Ward is launching the directory app with money he saved and an investment from a friend who owns a construction company.

He added: ‘I’m always looking for the next challenge and I’d always wanted to do something nationally, on a bigger scale.

‘I constantly think of new business ideas and they all end up as notes on my iPad. With 99 per cent of them I look into the idea and it’s something that somebody has already thought about – but this one was different.

‘Most of the existing websites were quite dull and boring so my first thought was to do something a little bit different, to try to develop a more catchy website with a younger feel because lots of sites seem quite corporate and old-fashioned.’

The Holy Bridal is available to download for Apple and Android devices. To find out more about the app visit The Holy Bridal website which can be found at theholybridal.co.uk/about
