GENEROUS donations from Portsmouth businesses have helped the expansion of three local charities.

Arise, The Alliance to Reward Initiatives and Social Enterprise, have raised £2,500 this year for Elizabeth Foundation, Frontline Debt Advice and the Beneficial Foundation through an annual fund.

Jennie Brent, chief executive at The Beneficial Foundation, said: ‘We were very fortunate to have secured a grant from Arise to purchase horticultural tools which assist our training programme, working with adults
with special educational needs.’

The Arise partnership was originally developed by Land Securities in 2012 and supported by companies including Gunwharf Quays, Mitie and GBM.

Colin Wilding, Gunwharf Quays general manager, said: ‘We’re thrilled to have provided assistance to three local good causes and look forward to seeing how their new facilities and projects develop.’

The scheme has donated more than £19,500 in the last three years to support initiatives and socially based activities in the city.
