The Portsmouth Hilsea Travelodge has got a new modern look following a £220,000 make-over.

The 33-room Travelodge on Copnor Road has been totally transformed and the hotel team celebrated the completion of the eight-week revamp earlier this week, and are already receiving great feedback from leisure and business customers.

Odette Smallwood, hotel manager at Hilsea, said: ‘We are investing £100m in modernising all our hotels and building a new Travelodge.

‘The fresh modern look at Portsmouth Hilsea Travelodge is attracting fantastic guest feedback, and a number of leisure and business customers have already praised the contemporary look and the Travelodge Dreamer bed.

‘So far this year at Portsmouth Hilsea Travelodge we have enjoyed double digit growth due to the rise in business and leisure customers switching to us.

‘Our new-look hotel will ensure that we continue growing sales and cementing our position as the favourite hotel for value in the area.’

The room design has been created by Travelodge customers and as a result, modernised hotels have average Trip Advisor rating greater than four out of five stars.

In addition, truckle beds have been installed into family rooms, offering children their own individual bed while creating more storage space for families at the same time. As well as new modern guest rooms, the work at Portsmouth Hilsea Travelodge, which opened in 2010, also includes a complete revamp of all public areas within the hotel. The investment is part of a nationwide £100m brand modernisation programme, which is driving strong growth at Travelodge.

Revenue for the first six months of the year is up by 17.9 per cent, driven by a sharp increase in business customers and families.

To date Travelodge has modernised well over 90 per cent of its rooms across the UK. All Travelodge rooms across the country now include a luxury bed called the Travelodge Dreamer, which is used predominately by luxury hotels worldwide.
