IKEA has stressed its commitment to the safety of staff and customers after a woman died at a Hampshire store.
The full circumstances of the tragedy in the car park at the company’s outlet in West Quay Road, Southampton, are not yet clear.
South Central Ambulance Service said they assessed the woman at Ikea in Southampton and confirmed her death after being called at 1.23pm yesterday.
Police have launched an investigation.
Following that assessment unfortunately that female patient was confirmed deceased at the scene.’
Alex Scoggins, marketing manager for IKEA Southampton, said: ‘The safety and security of all co-workers and customers is always our highest priority and we are now supporting the emergency services on-site.’
He addeded that the store was still open.
