THE key ingredient to a fit and healthy lifestyle can sometimes be just a little bit of encouragement.
And that is what is offered by Havant Small Business Awards winner Innovations Fitness during its hugely-popular boot camps.
MP Alan Mak, who launched the Havant Small Business Awards earlier this year, was recently on hand to see one of the sessions, led by fitness guru George ‘Topsy’ Turner, at the Emsworth Recreation Ground.
Innovations Fitness is proving a hit among people wanting to lose weight, or simply to maintain their fitness. It comes as park sessions are booming in popularity, with boot camps, such as the ones offered by Topsy, taking place all over the country.
Topsy uses his experience from 20 years in the Royal Navy, of which 15 years were spent as a physical training instructor, to help people achieve their fitness goals.
He says that, despite his military background, he maintains a friendly, approachable and passionate approach to fitness.
Those who attend his sessions are also offered dietary and nutritional advice to help them stay healthy.
Mr Mak said: ‘I enjoyed meeting Topsy and seeing how he helps so many people maintain a healthy lifestyle.
‘As an active hockey player, I know exactly how much of a positive impact exercise can have on somebody.
‘Innovation Fitness is a real local success story and they were worthy winners at the Havant Small Business Awards. Topsy is a great businessman, not just an excellent trainer.’
Aside from boot camps, Innovations Fitness also runs boxerfit, couch to 5k and walking football sessions.
Topsy said: ‘Winning Alan’s Small Business Award has given my business a real boost. It was great to show Alan some of the fitness sessions that we offer. Throughout my career I have coached and mentored in a variety of sports and I believe that fitness should be an enjoyable part of your day.
‘Through fitness classes and boot camps, hopefully Innovations Fitness will be able to inspire everyone to get fit.’
