It’s time to give praise to excellent women in business

NOMINATIONS for awards celebrating women in business have opened.

This year’s Portsmouth Venus Awards have been launched with a celebration at Changes Clinic at North Harbour.

Guests were entertained by close-up magicians Lee Robert of Him and Hymn and James Bray of Modern Deceptions.

Changes managing director and awards sponsor Kim Way said the launch was ‘a wonderful event’.

She said: ‘It has been so well supported in celebration of women and it is so lovely to see so many gentlemen attending.

‘I am proud to be sponsoring the Inspirational Woman Award.

‘I think that anyone nominated in this category must already be exceptional and therefore a winner in her own right.’

Categories will include Influential Woman of the Year Award, Employer of the Year (open to men and women), New Business Award, Inspirational Woman of the Year, Employee of the Year, Professional of the Year.

Other categories are Business Mother of the Year, Business of the Year, Customer Service Award, Manager of the Year (open to men and women), Entrepreneur of the Year, Director of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Small Business Award.

Awards’ associate regional partner Mary Burgess said: ‘As regional partner for Portsmouth and following on from my Venus Award win last year, I am keen to ensure this year’s awards are bigger and we continue to recognise the talents of women in the region.’

Sponsors include The News, Peter Cooper Volkswagen Group, Dynamite Recruitment, Heart FM, University of Portsmouth Business School, NatWest, Sandler Training, SMART Accountancy, Checkaprofessional and Shirlaws.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony at Portsmouth Pyramids Centre on May 6 next year.
