MARITIME companies can take advantage of a £100,000 pool to promote themselves on the international market.

Portsmouth City Council and Plymouth City Council made a combined bid for the money, which is part of a Great UK Challenge Fund.

Hampshire County Council economy, transport and environment executive member Councillor Seán Woodward said he supported the scheme.

He said: ‘I would urge companies in the marine and maritime sector to consider taking advantage of this funding available to help them promote their business internationally.

‘Having an international presence can give a business a significant advantage, but the costs of attending trade shows can sometimes be off-putting.

‘Winning this funding bid is great news for Hampshire as it will help these businesses build their export market and create more jobs.’

The Great UK Challenge Fund and aims to promote the UK’s south coast marine and maritime industry worldwide. It will enable companies to showcase their businesses at marine and maritime trade shows.
