ORGANISATIONS are working together to ensure people get jobs.

Portsmouth City Council and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce want residents to get the right skills to land work.

Council leader Donna Jones has met the chamber’s chief executive, Stewart Dunn, and deputy chief executive Maureen Frost to discuss this more.

Cllr Jones said: ‘It’s been useful to meet Stewart and Maureen to ensure that businesses in Portsmouth are aware of the services on offer to them, and in particular have access to business support funding and grants.’

Mr Dunn said: ‘I’m delighted to be working with the council to support its ambitions for economic growth.

‘We hope to be able in future to identify and fill the skills gap with the help of businesses across the south.’

Mrs Frost said: ‘We look forward to working with the council to maximise the trade opportunities with Portsmouth via the city’s twin links.’
